We are loving these Fido-friendly apple doggy donuts! So, head to the kitchen and whip up these delicious treats!
Apple Doggy Donuts
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup apple sauce (unsweetened and natural or make your own!)
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 cups water
- 4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup finely chopped apples (cored & peeled)
- (Optional) 2 tbsp melted peanut butter (be sure your choice does not contain Xylitol because it’s not a pet-friendly ingredient)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix apple sauce, egg, honey, and water
- In a separate bowl, mix wheat flour and baking powder
- Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients
- Fold in chopped apples
- Spray donut tins lightly with olive oil spray
- Bake for 32-35 minutes & let cool
- For an optional “frosting,” melt 2 tbsp of dog-friendly peanut butter and drizzle on top of donuts after they cool
Always introduce new treats to your dog in small doses to ensure they don’t get an upset tummy.
